The graduate programs offered by the Language and Literacy Education Department combine real-world experience in teaching language and literacy with coursework in language acquisition, multicultural children's literature, literacy pedagogy, and research

Alumni of the Language and Literacy programs have gone on to work as classroom teachers, sheltered English immersion teachers, reading specialists, literacy coaches, and reading tutors in private practice.

The accomplished Language and Literacy faculty combine research and innovation in literacy with deep experience in urban schools and communities. They are committed to teaching and training top-notch educators dedicated to promoting literacy and English language learning.
